A PICTURE POSTCARD
The calm sea
You will be charmed to see the calm water, with hundreds of little fishing boats out at sea, and the sailing ships and yachts moored in the ports.
A FEAST FOR THE PALATE
Sardines, cuttlefish from the estuary, and seafood.
The port of Sada is the number one port for sardine fishing. At any of the restaurants in the area in and around the port or along the promenade, you can enjoy fresh sardines and cuttlefish from the estuary. We also strongly recommend the seafood at the right time of the year.
ATMOSPHERE
The pavement cafés along the beach and in the port
There are lots of tables on the pavements outside the bars and restaurants of the area in and around the port and the central beach. In the early evenings people come here to enjoy a drink, or perhaps a tapa, or even an outdoor evening meal.
Particularly worth mentioning is the wonderful atmosphere of the popular sardine festival. This festival has been declared of National Interest for Tourism and it is held on the 18th of August. Thousands of people come to a wooded area near the beach to enjoy the famous sardines of Sada. There is also plenty of music and festivity.

UNIQUE TO SADA
The Seafarers’ District of Fontán
This is an authentic seafarers’ district. Its houses, above the
fishing port, enjoy fabulous views of the sea. The architecture is
modernistic and visitors never fail to be charmed by the colours of the
façades and the quaint narrow streets.
We recommend you take a stroll along these streets so that you can get a feeling for the seafaring tradition of Sada. You will also enjoy fabulous views of the Betanzos Estuary. (“Ría de Betanzos”).
